Finding balance and maintaining well-being can be challenging, especially for those dealing with chronic illnesses. For many people, the journey to physical and mental wellness often requires a tailored approach that considers the unique challenges they face.

Yoga has long been recognized as a powerful tool for promoting physical and mental health. Its gentle movements, focused breathing, and meditative aspects provide a holistic approach to wellness, making it an ideal practice for individuals with chronic conditions. Research shows that yoga can improve flexibility, strength, and balance, which are crucial for preventing falls and maintaining mobility as we age. Moreover, yoga’s emphasis on mindfulness and stress reduction can significantly benefit mental health, helping to alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression that often accompany chronic illness.

For this episode of Life Mastery TV, I’m excited to welcome Denyse LeFever, a Yoga Therapist with a wealth of experience working with seniors. About Denyse LeFever
——————–
Denyse LeFever is a Certified Yoga Therapist who holds additional certifications in iRest®, I AM™ Yoga Nidra, and Chair Yoga and Chair Yoga Dance. She is also a Diabetes Prevention Program lifestyle coach through the University of Virginia.

Denyse’s journey with yoga began in her teenage years, a time when she sought relief from the stress and anxiety of standardized tests. The gentle Hatha-based practice and meditation not only helped her transition into adulthood but also provided a sense of balance during her 30-year career in global business. As she approached her senior years, her father was diagnosed with dementia. She discovered that movement to music became a way to connect with her Dad when he could no longer communicate verbally. Gentle movements and subsequent sense of connection reminded her of her early experiences with Yoga.
